Name:Aiuri (GISELA)
Description:Aiuri
Abstract:The application name means ”mutual help” or ”cooperation” in Tupi-Guarani language.
The objective of Aîuri Project is the development of a framework that includes a user interface, data and text mining tasks, database access and a visualization tool. The focus is the construction of a high performance cooperative academic environment for education and research on computational intelligence, analysis, evaluation and visualization of structured and unstructured data. These components will be grid services for data and text mining processes that access databases using several approaches. All components are open source and are available to community, providing access to existing services and encouraging the addition of new ones.
The education and research in the areas of data and text mining have presented a huge development nowadays, leading to a torrent of new algorithms and methodologies for solving complex engineering and advanced sciences problems. Teaching these several algorithms becomes-itself a big challenge, supposing that it is necessary the utilization of programs with a user interface and some visualization tools, even though that is not the main focus of the work and sometimes it is not present.
Besides that, this project intends to ease the development of different approaches for accessing databases, containing distinct types of data, like documents, texts and numerical values, with the specification of standardised interfaces.
Non-commercial software utilization is justified by the high cost represented by commercial software, the difficulty of insertion of new algorithms and also the absence of flexibility of these environments. Grid computing infrastructure aggregates the collaboration feature, allowing the utilization and/or incorporation of new strategies for the research of new algorithms and different approaches for the solution of advanced engineering and science problems.
