Description:Interaction of turbulence and cavitation phenomena within the diesel injection nozzles
Abstract:Despite the knowledge that turbulence is a factor that induces the fragmentation of the jet, improving the process of mixing air and fuel, and therefore combustion, there are still many unanswered questions about the interaction between turbulence and cavitation phenomena, and its effects on the development of the Diesel spray.
Therefore, the objective of the application is the study of the interaction of these two phenomena within the diesel injection nozzles in changeable operating conditions (injection pressure) which also lead to higher or lower intensity of cavitation, and for different needle lifts, what means an approach to the actual injection process.
The internal flow will be modeled in cavitating conditions, including the effects of turbulence using RANS and LES methods.
