Name:Cisterns
Description:Cisterns simulates several scenarios of rain water collecting systems in a region of interest, given several parameters.
Abstract:Water shortages often happen in different parts of the world, and are an issue that governments have to face from time to time. A way of trying to avoid running out of water in regions affected by this problem, is building cisterns to collect water during the rainy season, and supply water during drought periods. Before building such cisterns, though, it is necessary to do a complete evaluation of the region, concerning its typical temperature, rainfall, drought period duration, greenhouse gases emission, and several other applicable variables. Cisterns simulates several scenarios of rain water collecting systems in a region of interest, given several parameters (region’s latitude, longitude, water demand and precipitation, collecting area, cistern’s capacity, and water loss coefficient), in order to analyze their efficiency in extreme situations.
