Description:Finite Element Electromagnetic Analysis of TWT Electron Guns in Grid Environment
Abstract:The complete simulator consists of three main modules: a fully 3-D FE mesh generator, a FE Vlasov solver coupled with an electron trajectory tracer taking into account also external magnetic fields, and a post-processing module for result analysis. The post-processing functions presently implemented allow computation and visualization of all the global and local quantities commonly needed to perform accurate 3-D collector and gun design. An efficient, user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) manages all the COLLGUN simulator functions, providing the TWT designer with a flexible and easy-to-use environment, which greatly enhances the design capability by guiding the designer through a step by step process, during which full control of choices is kept and correctness of input information is assured. In the GUI window several menus control all the actions necessary to create, modify, simulate a gun and evaluate its performance by suitable manipulation of a large amount of information both in the input and in the post-processing phases.^
