Name:GONAC
Description:Grid Oriented Naval Applications Computing
Abstract:GONAC (Grid Oriented Naval Applications Computing) is born from the problematic interesting study in Naval field, and from the applications of the techniques for the resolutions of the same ones. Once acquired the interest data, the goal is to reduce costs and time for the elaboration of the information through the employment of advanced computing technologies.
Therefore the application development is oriented to porting it on Grid. It’s wanted to be able to simulate anything from complex fluid flows involving chemical reactions, turbulence and heat transfer, to solid dynamics.
This applications must be able to run on OS linux or windows. The first timestep of this activity ’s been run fluidodynamics applications with use of commercial and open source CFD software in parallel calculation on a single machine and, later, on linux cluster of pc with dual-core processors.
On the base of the acquired data the successive step is to use the net grid in order to optimize the resources expressed in terms of times, costs, hardware, and then to optimize the application for an intensive use on the grid.
Actually, its development is in progress.
