Description:Genetic Linkage Analysis
Abstract:Finding the relationships between the occurrence of human diseases and the expression of a particular gene in the human genome is a theoretically and practically hard challenge. A common approach to this task begins with Genetic Linkage Analysis, which is a statistical method exploiting the presence of known genetic markers in order to identify the location on a chromosome of a given gene involved in a disease. This is obtained by comparing genetic data with information on a pedigree structure and following the inheritance of phenotypic alterations in families through the generations.
