Description:Modelling and simulation of chemical engineering processes and equipments by means of Computational Fluid Dynamics
Abstract:Computational Fluid Dynamics is an increasingly important tool for carrying out realistic simulations of process equipment.
In the case of multiphase systems the development of CFD models is less advanced than for single-phase systems.
The aim of the present study is focused on CFD modeling of multiphase gas-liquid stirred reactors and of dense cloud dispersion over topographically complex geometries such as urban areas.
An Eulerian-Eulerian Multi-Fluid approach will be used in conjunction with the simplest two-phase extension of the k-e turbulence model. The effect of inter-phase forces on simulation results will be separately considered. The simulations will be carried out with the help of the commercial code Ansys-CFX 4.4 and Ansys-CFX 10.
