Name:Multimedia Distribution Network Simulation
Description:This applications primary focus is to simulate on a large scale a
multimedia distribution network. The application is built upon OMNeT++,
a C++ based network simulator. This allows us to evaluate the
effectiveness of proposed multimedia distribution networks, and to
compare them to existing networks. General simulations involve 1,000
nodes distributing multimedia content through multicast and peer-to-peer
protocols. Each simulation run is highly detailed, simulating traffic
down to the network layer. Statistics are gathered at each simulated
node and globally over the whole simulation. Depending on parameters,
one days activity can be simulated in four to six hours.
