Name:NEMO
Description:NEutrinoMediterraneanObservatory
Abstract:NEMO is an advanced R&D project for the construction of a neutrino telescope in the deep Mediterranean Sea. Preliminary design for an underwater km3 detector was performed on the basis of Monte Carlo simulations aimed to the optimization of the detector performance. The simulation of the detector response to the astrophysical neutrino fluxes is necessary and since the predicted neutrino fluxes are weak it is necessary to take into account the expected background noise. The porting on GRID infrastructure of the simulation codes has been performed. This codes simulate the physic interaction of the cosmic rays with the atmosphere and the muon propagation in the atmosphere up to the sea surface and in water up to the detector. The GRID application was designed as a trivial parallel execution of several identical code chains which are performed in sequential way.
