Description:Synthesis and modelling of multiphase polymeric materials
Abstract:The application aims to the study and modelling of multiphase polymeric systems. Depending on the formulations and processing conditions different morphologies can be obtained whit different mechanical properties. In our projects we studied the ionizing radiation induced curing of epoxy resin and thermoplastic blends. The goal is to improve both the thermal behaviour and the mechanical performance mainly in term of toughening . With reference to this last property can be very important to relate the experimental results to the modelling of multiphase polymeric systems. In this application we plan to use the finite elements software ABAQUS . In particular ABAQUS allows to perform simulations regarding nanostructured polymeric systems. By the use of nano-mechanical models it is possible to investigate the effect of nanoparticles dispersion and dimensions. The obtained results give rise to the determinations of the key characteristics in order to obtain the optimal properties of the synthesised materials.
