Description:VITP simulations on the Grid
Abstract:VITP simulations on the Grid, For the needs of the VITP (Vehicular Information Transfer Protocol) evaluation, an application layer communication protocol specifying the syntax and the semantics of messages between VITP peers, we perform network simulations. To achieve this, an implementation of the protocol is needed in NS2 which is the network simulator program used and a data set for realistic movement of the nodes participating in the simulations which is taken from the traffic simulator SUMO. The simulation scenarios take place mostly in areas of 4 square kilometers for about 500 seconds and up to 400 cars take part simultaneously. This scale of simulation demands a great amount of computer resources for a long period of time, since the experiments are repeated with variable sets of parameters in order to provide reliable results for the evaluation. Through EGEE project and with the use of the grid, the computer resources needed are available.
